Pandemic Lamentations by Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak

Wright Gallery, at Texas A&M University, presents “Lamentations”, a solo exhibition by Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak, featuring large-scale works on paper (the largest is 24’ long) combining drawing, painting, and collage.
Artist talk: April 3rd at 4:15 pm, with a reception to immediately follow until 6 pm. Open to the public.

The artist’s mixed-media work features layered collage of print media and pictorial metaphors surrounding pivotal events such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Covid-19 pandemic, and 1932-1933 famine-genocide Holodomor in Soviet Ukraine. In her 3-part “Pandemic Lamentations” series, a chronological narrative of the pandemic can be read through layers of newspapers and drawn imagery on scroll-like installations that wind around walls in the gallery.

Media-support for the artist by UART.GALLERY.
